Visitors tour circuit

The visit leads you on a journey through different regions of the world to explore several hundred species of freshwater tropical fish.
Each separate region is marked out and identified by a specific colour code.

South America

You will embark on your journey by starting out in South America, where you will travel down one of the world’s longest rivers, the Amazon, which alone accounts for 20% of the planet’s entire river flow. Under the watchful eye of our piranhas, you will learn about the Amazon’s diverse wealth, including freshwater stingrays, dragonfish, and catfish spanning longer than a metre …

Asia

… then you will travel through Asia to study a startling array of fauna which over thousands of years has managed to adapt to murky waters, often with little oxygen, including Gouramis, knifefish, “freshwater sharks” and glassfish…

Central America

… then your journey will take you up to the high plains of Central America to see blind cavefish and Goodeidae fish with their unusual method of reproduction, before dipping down to the lower plains to explore rivers containing fish with large frontal humps on their heads, such as the Midas cichlid …

Oceania

… you will then make a stopover on the South Pacific Islands, which due to their geographical isolation are home to a vast wealth of endemic species of aquatic fauna and flora. Here you will have the chance to marvel at the dazzling display of colours on show from our rainbowfish, which are examples of marine fish which have managed to adapt to freshwater conditions over time …

Oceania

Africa

… a quick hop across the ocean and you will disembark on the African continent to explore its rivers to the West and discover 3 of the world’s biggest lakes, including Lake Victoria, Lake Tanganyika, and Lake Malawi. You will get to see local fish from these regions that have managed to develop a multitude of techniques to adapt to their environment, such as elephant fish, puffer fish, and butterfly fish.

North America

Finally, in the North America section, you can discover our area dedicated to Florida tortoises. 
Sold by the millions from the 1950s until the early 2000s, you’ll learn about the problems associated with their introduction into French waterways.
